Carrying Out Life's Mission

We are put on earth for a reason. What this may be is a question many people cannot answer. It cannot be to make money. It cannot be to gain fame. It cannot be to get pleasure. It cannot be to mooch off of others. It cannot be anything that most people are after.

What it is for each person I cannot say. For me it is to enjoy each day as it comes, and to do something useful for other people: every single day. Even if it is just to help a little old lady across the street. I get a lift from helping other people. I am not a philanthropist. I don't hate other people, and I don't like myself that much. I just think that we should do what comes up for us to do, and leave the rest to God.

Praying is one of the most important things I do. It puts me in my place. It helps me know what to do. Usually it is something right there in front of me that I was too stupid to see otherwise.

In principio erat verbum, et verbum erat apud Deum, et Deus erat verbum.
John 1.1

This means a lot to me, trying to be like the Word, the "self-differentiating Unity" that is God.

H. G.
